Supplying Next-Generation Tankers Worldwide
The KC-30 Tanker is built by an industry team that has won all recent competitions to provide new-generation military tankers for NATO allies worldwide.
The British government has selected the AirTanker Consortium and its A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) as the preferred bidder for its Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft requirement, while the Australian Defence Forces signed a contract in December 2004 to acquire A330 MRTTs for its new in-flight refueling aircraft.
In addition to the A330 MRTT's competitive successes in Australia and the U.K., the shorter-fuselage A310 MRTT is being delivered to the German and Canadian air forces.
The A310 MRTTs for Germany and Canada carry two underwing hose & drogue refueling pods. The aircraft also can be outfitted with an optional flying boom and centerline hose drum refueling systems.
Retaining the same optimized 222-inch widebody fuselage cross-section of the KC-30/A330 MRTT, the German and Canadian A310 MRTTs offer full mission flexibility. The aircraft seats up to 214 passengers as a troop transport, while a combined cargo/troop-transport configuration version is capable of carrying 54 passengers and 12 pallets. The A310 MRTT's medevac capacity is up to 56 stretchers and as many as six intensive-care units.
